Talent100

Technology R&D employee nominated for Talent100

Mikkel Hedegaard Kristensen, Vice President Product Support R&D is one of the 100 talents that Danish business magazine, Berlingske Nyhedsmagasin, has chosen to profile in their special edition, Talent100, which will be published 23 March.

"I'm looking forward to seeing who the other 99 people are, so I know who I am compared with. Furthermore, I am of course happy that someone noticed what I do and believes that it is valuable", Mikkel Hedegaard Kristensen answers, when asked how he feels about the nomination.

For the 8th time, Berlingske Nyhedsmagasin, focuses on young talents in their Talent100 special edition. Everyone who knows a talent can nominate that person, whereafter the business magazine selects the top 100 young people considered to be the corporate world's rising profiles.

Mikkel was nominated for Talent100 by Mads Christoffersen, MMT Program Director and Associate Professor at DTU Business. "I nominated Mikkel because he is incredibly knowledgeable, and he has a great drive enabling him to reach his ambitious goals. Additionally, he is a brilliant representative for our MBA; he has a great technical insight combined with an understanding of how to create value-adding business development and innovation."

An untraditional career

So what is the reason why this young Vestas employee appears on the list of Denmark's top 100 talents?

In 2009, Mikkel completed the executive MBA, Master in Management of Technology (MMT) at DTU. He was a departure from the "standard" MBA student. Firstly he was the youngest applicant ever to be accepted, secondly he had never completed a Bachelor's degree. Instead, Mikkel had a vast amount of practical experience, especially within production and management. When he was only 16 years old, he moved to the US to work and before he turned 20 he had lived in China and the UK as well. Furthermore, he has been involved in several start-up companies.

Mikkel has been with Vestas since 2008 where he started in their Blades division. Now he is head of Product Support R&D, which comprises all documentation related to wind turbines together with product compliance and configuration.

Mikkel hopes to contribute to Vestas' further development and growth with his practical and global experience. "I believe Vestas is still developing and that there is still much to learn. In this process, I think it is important for Vestas to maintain an entrepreneurial spirit and to avoid too much bureaucracy", says Mikkel.
