70 % percent of change initiatives fail. This alarming statement was central to John Kotter’s seminal work of “Leading Change” published in 1996. Twenty years later, after millions of business managers and MBA students have becomes familiar with Kotter’s famous 8 steps process of leading change, little progress has been made. Recent studies by Mc Kinsey & Co the Harvard Business Review, and John Kotter himself consistently show that 70 % of change initiatives still fail. It is now time to acknowledge that change management does not have a problem, rather it is a problem, IT IS TIME TO CHANGE.
